I wrote this article for my Creative Thinking journal. However, I misinterpreted what my prof wanted. She wants creative IDEAS. Obviously, what I wrote are not ideas at all. But nevertheless, I don't regret spending my time writing it. =)

God's Creativity in Human Beings

I’m writing this article in the belief that you believe in a God or gods, that created the universe, Earth and human beings. If you do not believe in a God or gods, please do have an open mind to read this article.

The very root of creativity can be seen in us, human beings. It can be seen in you; it can also be seen in me. To prove that, what you can do is look in the mirror and you’ll see one thing-the product of creativity.

Firstly, we can see the creativity of God from the organs that God gave us. All of the organs of human beings are created very specifically, for a specific function. The eyes are made to see; the skin is made to protect our internal organs from external harm; the kidneys are made to filter our wastes. The organs of a normal person who does not have any physical and internal defects can function so perfectly well together that it is scary to think of another form a human being can look like.

Secondly, we can see how creative God can be by the external appearance that God gave to each and every single one of us. It is impossible to find 2 persons who are exactly the same in terms of physical appearance I will illustrate this to you. In terms of physical appearance, we are not like any other person because our appearances are made up out of different permutations of our genes. Inside our bodies, there are 23 kinds of genes. These genes have genetic codes, i.e. DNA, which can mix and match to produce our physical appearance, internal organs, fingerprints, blood type, and part of our personality. Of the 23 kinds of genes, there are 2 of each kind-one from the mother, and one from the father. In the process of deciding which 23 genes will form the genetic codes of a child, the 23 genes can come randomly from the father or the mother. This means that our genes have the ability to permutate 223 times(which in number, is 8,388,608 times)! This leads to the conclusion that for a set of parents, there are 223 possibilities of the physical appearance of their children! Every set of parent have different set of genes. There are many sets of parents in the world. Therefore, as many sets of parents there are in the world, and multiply it with the 223 permutation of genes that each set of parent possesses, we have trillions and gazillions of possibilities human beings can look like. Hence, no 2 human beings, whether they have passed on to a better life or are still living in the world, can look alike. The creativity of the creator who made us is certainly evident in this area.

Besides that, each and every of our personality differentiates us from other individuals. Our personality is formed due to a couple of factors. I will discuss a few of them here. The upbringing provided by our parents influences our personality a lot. If parents are strict, then there will be an extreme effect on the child. If parents are caring and understanding, it will bring out a different effect. The external environment in which a person lives in can also affect their personality. Different financial backgrounds bring out different personalities. If a person lives in poverty, he or she may either be very resilient or may become complacent with life. If a person lives in luxury, with people to serve him or her, then it may turn out that he or she may become lazy. I may be wrong in my judgement there, but what I want to bring out is that different environments shape different personalities. With the different physical appearances we have, and the different personalities that we possess, each and every one of us is special, one of a kind.

Lastly, I want to address the emotions that God has given us. As humans, we are able to experience many different kinds of emotions and are also able to describe the emotions we experience to other people in words. There is basically a fountain of emotions that we can feel. Sadness, euphoria, jealousy, gratefulness, guilt, love, hope...and the list goes on. It is so creative of the creator to invent emotions. With these emotions, we either connect better with other people or become more solitary in nature. It is so wonderful that our emotions allow us to think of thoughts so that we can react appropriately to a situation. For example, if we feel fear, we will flee from what we fear. If we feel hopeful, then we will always go on with life even when we face difficult situations. At certain times, we can have a mix of emotions. For example, when students are about to receive their results, they may feel nervous and excited at the same time. Another example is when our loved ones pass on to another life, we will feel immense grief, but at the same time, it helps us paradoxically feel more grateful towards life. The rich emotions that we are able to feel bring much pain in life, but it also brings a lot of joy, and that to me, is creativity.

The creator has created trillion gazillion human beings, and with the permutation of genes and the difference in personalities, I believe that God is able to bring out many more variations of human beings. The reality of our organs, personality and emotions co-existing with each other in harmony should be dub as one of the 7 wonders of the world. Ultimately, with the creativity of God in human beings, we should treasure and love how we are like, as each of us is distinctively, unique.
