Taking the normal walk down the stairway to the carpark, thinking of the long road home... opened the door of the car... stuck the key into the ignition hole... turning it... turning it... *clink clink*...
Nothing happened! Oh... how BAD it was... not even the sound of a choking engine... Thank God that Huihui and Ben were around... I asked for their help, and of course, they willingly extended their hand, since they're such nice ppl. They tried to help me start up the car, but it just wouldn't budge. So I opened the bonnet.
Surprisingly(or not so surprisingly), Huihui was the one that helped me check out the prob. She helped me check the various water levels of the containers in the bonnet, while I called up a friend of mine to ask for help. My friend said that it probably was the battery prob, and asked me to call up a mechanic... sad... it was already 6+ in the evening by then... night would soon enough fall...
I called up my father's driver, while Huihui called up another friend of ours(her father does car biz eh). My pap's driver arrived, and still, the prob couldn't be solve. I had no idea what I was thinking at that time, but was just silently thankful for the people that were around.
Huihui had to go home, and so, Ben stayed on there with me.
Finally, another friend of ours arrived not too long after that, with her mum. Her mum took the jump cable, and connected the batteries of her car to mine, positive to positive, negative to negative. Oh man... I hoped that the car would start up... but alas, only the alarms sounded. What point-to-point frustration...
My friends mum called up her relatives who were in the car biz , and darkness was falling by then. One of the mechanics arrived with the car battery at around 7.30, and kinda got the battery in the right place. It costs RM145!!! *slap forehead* And it was a bargained price... it was initially RM160... inflation these days...
Anyway, still, only the alarm sounded. The mechanic was telling what the problem was, in Hokkien. Being a damn lousy Penang person, I couldn't understand much of what he said. Quite embarassing, since my pap's driver who's an Indian understands what he said...
He said that the alarm sounded due to security reasons, or something like that. If robbers tried to steal the car, the car would not be able to start up. The mobilizer in the car plays a part. Called up another person, and finally, the person managed to fix the alarm problem... It was about 8 by then... so my friend's mum used her car lights to provide light to see.. oh, and Ben's handphone too, provided light. The alarm service was RM20... so in total, it was RM165... my friend's mum paid for it first.
How glad I was... =)
Putting aside the car break down incident... Ben, my friend(Bee Hooi) and I wondered why were cars still in the parking lot area at around 730... around 4 or 5 of them... all classes should have end by that time... and at around 8... people in working attire drove into the compound of the college, parked beside one of the cars, and let some of their passengers down... we were wondering why... and a lecturer who was with us, Martin, pointed out that it was probably factory workers at the near industrial area... they parked the car in our college in the morning, and car pooled to their workplace, to save parking fees, manpower for driving, and time caught in the morning jam... ugh! no wonder there were always cars earlier than us in the morning! Taking up our parking places when there ain't enough... =(
I really am thankful that all these happened in college and not on the road; in the evening and not at night; with friends around, and with friends with handphones around(i know... everyone has a hp today... but i just don't have one) Thanks ya all! *looking up*Thank God... =)
